The daughter of Nigerian immigrants, Enyia earned a PhD in Education Policy, and Law Degree from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She served under former Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley as a policy fellow. She currently works as a municipal development consultant and is the executive director of Austin Chamber of Commerce on Chicago's West Side.
If elected, Enyia would institute an elected school board for the city's schools. Enyia supports a freeze on the creation of charter schools in the city. If elected Enyia says she will end "unnecessary testing." Enyia supports the reinstatement of arts programs and the expansion of vocational education in strategic sectors.[1]
